A competition project redesigning a section of the legendary Gocar’s Automatic Mills in Pardubice, Czech Republic.

The area that used to be a cornerstone of the local economy fell into disrepair, and the machinery fell silent for the first time in a century. Then the Mills were acquired by a private investor, turning them into a vibrant hotspot of arts and culture.

This competition entry involved a partial replacement of a historical building with a new structure.

Distinctive serrated roof inspired us to take a more abstract, almost poster-like approach to the project. The client had a clear vision for the images, and we accommodated, making sure the visualisation looks natural within the context of historical photography that many of the frames are based on.
